Jonathan Arnott

Senior Fellow | Education and Good Governance

Fun Facts:

Jonathan Arnott is senior fellow with the Virginia Institute for Public Policy, an author, and publisher. He is a former British Member of the European Parliament (MEP) representing the North East of England from 2014-2019, most recently for the Brexit Party. He served on the Budget and Budgetary Control Committees, as well as being a substitute on the Constitutional Affairs Committee. He took part in the first ever televised Education Debate on the BBC during the 2015 General Election. In May 2019, Jonathan decided not to seek re-election.

Prior to serving in the European Parliament, Jonathan was a mathematics teacher in Sheffield, England. At the age of just 15, he became the youngest person ever to go to Sheffield University, and is a mathematician by trade. In his spare time, Jonathan represents Great Britain at the board game Stratego, and is a former England Under-21 international at chess. As a committed Christian, he has preached in churches of various denominations. He regularly worked to support the persecuted church as an MEP.

Jonathan is a strong believer in democracy and free enterprise. He has supported campaigns for Britain to leave the European Union since 2001, and is fully committed to the fundamental freedoms which should be enjoyed on both sides of the Atlantic: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
